Our 2024 Dance Marathon campaign officially launches Monday November 4, and with your help we’re setting out to raise $35,000 to help us make dance accessible, cultivate community, empower youth, and share God’s love!

POP Pilates - 2pm

POP Pilates is where strength meets flexibility. Think highly-focused movements that leave your body engaged and alive! This isn’t your average workout - it’s a dance on the mat!
Please bring a yoga mat if you have!

Naomi discovered dance when she was 15 years old and hasn’t looked back since! Her passion for dance led her to pursue professional training through the School of Contemporary Dancers Honours degree program. Since graduating the program, she was been privileged to perform in a variety of projects, including Sinha Danse, Inertial Response, HilJames Movement, NAfro, YoungLungs and Company Link. In the summer of 2018, her choreography was presented in the first ever Skylines Dance & Film Series here in Winnipeg. Naomi has been a movement educator for 10 years, and loves teaching Modern, Creative Movement, Acro and POP Pilates!
POP Remix Ballet - 3pm

A Ballet class set to your favourite Pop songs! A traditional style with a bit of a twist. Enjoy a typical Ballet class of barre and centre work in a fun, beginner friendly atmosphere!

Amy started dancing when she was five and didn’t really stop for 25 years. Her dancing took her to far and wide places and allowed her to experience most styles of dance but ballet has always been her home. Amy has an honours degree in contemporary dance and has completed most of her major cecchetti ballet exams. The Genesis community has welcomed Amy for 10 years and she’s looking forward to being back.
Partnered Swing - 4pm

A beginner friendly class that starts from the ground up - perfect if you have never danced before! You'll learn the basic footwork, explore basic movements that focus on communicating with a partner, listening to music, and moving around the dance floor.

River City Swing is THE Winnipeg Lindy Hop dance company! Providing dance classes, social dances, and live band nights throughout the year!
Hip Hop - 5pm

A high energy, groove based class sure to be a good time! Get ready to bounce, rock, and groove to your favourite Hip Hop tunes, and learn some fun choreography to go with it!

Eugene "GeNie" Baffoe is a freestyle Hip Hop dancer, DJ, and educator from Montreal Québec. He has been studying Hip Hop Culture for over a decade, teaching, performing and competing all over the world. As the Director of B.O.S.S. Dance Team, he has directed and choreographed 2 Winnipeg Blue bomber Canadian Football League halftime shows, 3 opening sequences for WeDay. GeNie is a high energy performer, instructor and educator dedicated to authentically delivering the culture to his audiences and students in class.
Broadway Jazz - 6pm

Broadway Jazz is a dynamic, theatrical dance style blending traditional jazz technique with storytelling, character development, and dramatic choreography. This beginner class will include footwork and expressive gestures, embodying characters and narratives from musical theater through movement.

Victoria Exconde (she/her) is a Canadian-Filipino film actor and theatre performer. Credits include Winnipeg Studio Theatre (Fame), Rainbow Stage (Ma-Buhay! & Mary Poppins), One Trunk Theatre (Saplings), Ode Productions (Maria and the Mennos), and Nafro Dance Productions (Mapiko & Yofanana). Throughout her career, Victoria continues to share her passion for the performing arts by teaching and sharing her knowledge within her community.
Salsa - 7pm

Salsa: a Latin style originating from Cuba, containing fast footwork and tons of flair, danced to quick, upbeat music!

Jedi is a dancer, choreographer and instructor. He has spent 28 years expressing himself through many different genres, being taught by the best of the best, competing and performing all over, and having the opportunity to share his passion with others. His life is full, and colorful. So come and join him on the dance floor, let's express ourselves, and have fun all at the same time!

Our programs are 60% donation-funded, allowing us to provide a base-rate tuition subsidy to all students, making our quality programs the most financially accessible in the city!

Additional subsidy for those in financial need
On top of base-rate tuition subsidies, we ensure the same opportunities for excellence and development are available to every student by providing additional subsidy on class fees, extra training, costume and competition fees, and more!

We recognize that the diverse needs of our students go beyond financial accessibility. That’s why we go further by offering individualized support that empowers each student to reach their full potential, such as 1-1 mentoring, group outings, rides to dance, and more!
